NOEL W. ANDERSON

Panel Session H2:
Printing Beyond the Blackness Principle:
The Necessity of Multiple Subjectivities within
Black Masculine Discourse

Noel W. Anderson was born in Louisville, Kentucky. After receiving an MFA in Printmaking from Indiana University, he received an MFA in Sculpture from Yale University. He is currently an Assistant Professor in Printmaking at the University of Cincinnati. His work disrupts perceptual knowledge of black masculinity and its prescribed notions. Anderson's research proposes a phenomenological space in which to investigate black masculinity. Paired with humor, Anderson’s scholarship results in category crisis, as viewers are left wondering who they are or would rather not be.
